Why Fall Mice Are Already Breeding Inside Your Walls And How to Stop It Without an Exterminator
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about PestLab™ Rodent Repellent Pouches.
Will this work if mice are already living inside my walls?
PestLab™ pouches are designed to discourage mice from entering or staying in treated areas using a blend of plant-based aromatic ingredients.
If mice are already inside your walls, place the pouches near suspected entry points and areas where you've noticed activity. Some customers report that scratching noises gradually decrease after placing the pouches. However, results vary, and pouches cannot guarantee removal of an established infestation.
For persistent activity, combine repellents with sealing entry points, removing food sources, and professional pest control when necessary.
Is the scent overpowering for humans?
PestLab™ pouches use a blend of peppermint, cinnamon, cedarwood, and castor oil. The resulting fragrance has a noticeable herbal and minty character.
Many customers describe the scent as pleasant and not overpowering. However, fragrance sensitivity varies from person to person, so always follow the placement instructions and keep the pouches away from children and pets who might handle or chew them.
Can mice get used to it over time?
PestLab™ uses aromatic plant-based ingredients to discourage rodent activity without relying on electricity or ultrasonic frequencies.
As with other scent-based deterrents, effectiveness can vary depending on the environment, scent concentration, and rodent behavior. Habituation is possible, so no repellent can guarantee that mice will never become accustomed to it.
For best results, maintain proper pouch placement, replace them when their scent fades, and seal potential entry points.
How is this different from peppermint spray at the hardware store?
Two important differences are the ingredient blend and the delivery method.
PestLab™ combines four plant-based ingredients: peppermint, cinnamon, cedarwood, and castor oil. Rather than requiring repeated spraying, the ready-to-use pouch is designed to release its aroma gradually.
According to PestLab's product guidance, each pouch is intended to last approximately 30–90 days depending on temperature, ventilation, and placement. Check the pouches regularly and replace them when the scent fades.
What about large properties or farm buildings?
PestLab™ pouches are marketed for use in homes, garages, barns, sheds, RVs, and other suitable areas where rodents may enter or hide.
For large properties, PestLab recommends using 8 or more pouches, focusing on known entry points and areas of rodent activity. The exact number needed depends on the layout and conditions of your property.
In high-airflow areas, such as barns and open garages, the product guidance recommends checking and replacing pouches more frequently, potentially around every 30–45 days. Keep pouches protected from excessive moisture and follow the product instructions.
