Nobody Tells You About The Part That Comes After
I stood there in my robe and I could not move.
Because now there was a decision to be made. And I was the only person in the house.
My husband Ray works out of town Monday to Thursday.
So it was me. Just me, at 6:40 in the morning, with a living animal in a trap on my kitchen floor.
I ended up putting the whole thing in a bag without looking at it. The trap, the mouse, all of it.
Then I sat in my car in the driveway and couldn't eat breakfast.
That was when it hit me. The problem wasn't me.
The problem was that every single thing sold in that hardware store aisle turns YOU into the one who has to finish it.
Why $340 Later, They Were Still Coming Back
I called an exterminator. He charged me $340.
He put down bait and left. For about ten days, quiet.
Then fresh droppings. Same spot. Behind the toaster.
I called him back. He shrugged and said it was probably coming from the neighbor's place.
So I paid $340 to be told it wasn't my fault and there was nothing I could do.
That's when I started reading. For weeks. Late at night.
And I found something that explained my whole miserable autumn.
