Do you ever lay in bed and hear a scratching noise coming from inside the walls? Or maybe you flip on the light switch and see something dart across the floor?
That was happening to me more often than I’d like to admit. And it got to the point where I was constantly on edge in the place that’s supposed to feel safest.
But pests aren’t just gross. They can be a real health risk too.
Rodents like mice and rats can spread over 35 diseases. Pests like roaches and bed bugs carry bacteria and can trigger allergies. Then there’s the viruses that biting insects can spread…
It’s disgusting to realize you’re basically sharing your home with these things and their germs.
And then there’s the emotional toll. Scared kids and stressed-out adults who can’t “out-clean” the pests no matter how hard we try. And it’s embarrassing when guests find a bug…or droppings!
Anyhow, if you’re still reading, I’m guessing you can relate.
So I called an exterminator. Wow, talk about a rude awakening!
He quoted nearly $1,000, said we’d need to leave for a day, and warned that we’d likely need treatments every few months. Basically, spend a fortune, spray toxic chemicals, and still not solve the problem.
Uh, no thanks!
So I went to the store and loaded up on snap traps, roach motels, bait, and “natural” pest sprays.
Long story short, we lost the battle. I know I caught some mice, but I still couldn’t sleep with all that scratching in the walls. But there were still spiders and other bugs.
I realized the real problem wasn’t just the pests I could see. They were breeding in the hidden areas I couldn’t reach.
